Jim Thompson was an American architect who was stationed in Thailand in World War II as part of what was to become the Central Intelligence Agency. After the War, he returned to Thailand, and successfully resurrected the Thai silk industry by marketing the silks for the western world under the guise of the Thai Silk Company Ltd. This was to be an enduring success, which has continued to this day in spite of his untimely and mysterious death in 1967.

Jim Thompson loved Thailand and all things Thai, and his house is actually a compilation of 6 traditional structures of houses all over 200 years old which he purchased and brought to one spot in the centre of Bangkok on the banks of the Khlong Saen Saep and assembled using traditional Thai building techniques (which avoid the use of nails). The house is wider at the bottom and narrower at the top to allow for the natural expiration of heat, aided by the air vents at the tops of the walls.
The actual house consists of an entrance hall, dining room, living room, terrace, master bedroom with bath, two guestrooms, a kitchen and pantry. As all 6 traditional houses were shaped into one home, he did not always adhere to the traditional when it came to the furniture. The wooden living room walls were actually installed inside out to enable their carved surfaces to be viewed from the inside. Consequently the window shutters open and close from the outside, instead of the inside. He has also used a traditional Thai bed as a coffee table. The house has been furnished with exquisite art and antiques, which create an atmosphere of elegance and serenity.

I put some more stuff into Sonic's cage. Had the feeling he couldn't do too much and might get bored. I also hope this will help wear down his claws as the Chinchilla sandpaper didn't help (he dragged straw over it).
